Challenge
P&R Metals worked with a national engineering firm in determining the best option for conveyor walkway on a large South American mining project. Their concern was getting the right product for their application, with materials being manufactured in the United States and shipped to South America for installation.
Solution
P&R Metals suggested using Grip Strut Heavy-Duty Walkway Grating for this application. The large diamond holes allow aggregate to flow thru versus standard bar grating. The aggressive non-slip surface also ensured great traction for workers going up the elevated walkway. The addition of structural splice kits allowed the materials to be placed and monolithically erected, even over non-supported spans, which sped up the installation process.
